What better way to blow off some steam than by sliding, tubing, and splashing your way through summer? One of Minnesota’s best kept secrets is our amazing tradition of water parks. Some can be found in the middle of metro areas, while others are at resorts, but all are an entertaining and accessible choice for the whole family. Since winter is so long and cold, fully embrace the summer by spending as much time as possible poolside! But the die-hard fans need not worry - many water parks are indoors too, so they can be enjoyed year-round! Here are some of your best options for water park fun:

Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge have over a dozen locations across North America and are known as a leader in resort experiences. Their Minnesota location boasts several body and tube slides, as well as water activity areas for children of differing ages, so no one is left out. There’s also a wave pool and a lazy creek where you can while away the afternoon. Those who want to avoid the crowds can rent a cabana for some privacy. Great Wolf Lodge is more than a water park and lodge, though; it also offers live shows, beloved characters, and a wide variety of food choices.

The Venetian

This indoor water park is exciting for children and adults alike. Located within the Holiday Inn & Suites Maple Grove NW Minneapolis (Arbor Lakes), this facility has over 25,000 square feet of aquatic fun. The hotel and waterpark are Venetian themed, so you will enjoy the beautiful murals and artwork, as well as the four-story slides! There’s also a smaller aquatic playground for younger children. The waterpark is only available to guests of the hotel, so visitors enjoy a more private experience. For adults, there is a special cocktail lounge and spa area to help you relax.

The Venetian is located in the Arbor Lakes Shopping Center, so you’re surrounded by dining and shopping options. There’s also free on-site self-parking.

Soak City at Valleyfair

Soak City is the place to go for adrenaline enthusiasts! Right next door to the roller coasters of Valleyfair are equally terrifying water attractions. Panic Falls is a tubular tumble that keeps you moving quickly down a twisting, turning path. Or try Hurricane Falls, a group raft trip that mimics whitewater rafting. Breakers Plunge is an open-air slide with a drop so steep it will make you scream. And finally, for the bravest of the brave, Breakers Pipeline: riders enter an enclosed chamber and wait for the floor to drop out from beneath them, shooting them down a 65-foot drop at a nearly vertical angle. This incredible attraction is unlike anything you’ll find anywhere else, but as with everything at Soak City, it’s not for the faint of heart!
